ChatGPT is trending these days. No matter you go to social media, news websites or any tech blogs you will see one thing for sure: ChatGPT and its threats to jobs. Since its introduction in November last year, everyone is debating about it. Some are advocating in favor of ChatGPT that its a very good tool and it will assist human in doing complex tasks and save time. While others are discussing about its dangers and feared the advancement of AI.
What exactly is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is basically an AI Chatbot developed by company Open AI. You can interact with ChatGPT by asking questions using text. And the chat bot will provide you the answer of question based on the data present in its database. Now its database is consist of mainly two kinds of information. First is the massive generic data which its developers integrated with it and second the data it has collected from previous human interactions. Yes you read it right AI stores data from every human interaction and modifies itself. And this is the main difference between ChatGPT and a general search engine. ChatGPT gives more customized answer.
What social media influencers hyping about
Now there are many articles and videos has been surfacing on social media which are creating hype about ChatGPT that it is very advance and you can use it in creation of whatever written content you want. Some of social media influencers are claiming that you can make content from ChatGPT and monetize it with no effort. Others are claiming that ChatGPT will become so advanced that it will eliminate the jobs of content creators and bloggers. I will bust both the myth for you. The first myth is that you can monetize the content from ChatGPT is partially true. But the fact that you can take assistance from GPT for content generation and not be dependent entirely on it. Because in that case your content will be just a copy paste crap and also you own creativity will be killed.
Fear of new technology
The second myth is about how ChatGPT can eat the jobs of content creators and writers. Which is a complete crap. With every new technology there arise a fear of replacement of human workforce and unemployment. But people don't understand that new technology creates more jobs and opportunities than it creates. For example in 80s and 90s when computers were new, people fear that computer will kill the jobs and creates unemployment. Yes computer eliminates data department and record maintaining people but it also generates vast employment opportunities. So if AI will become extremely advanced and it will eliminates some of the jobs it will create many. You have skill and you work continuously update the skills to match market demand nobody can snatch job from you.
Final thoughts
As far as I understood the hype created around ChatGPT is mostly baseless. Yes it is very good technology but it still in its primary stage and still evolving. Also it may be possible that this hype is created artificially through media channels so that more and more users try and use ChatGPT and which will further enhance its database and functionality, since it record and process every human interaction.
My sole purpose of this article is that all the fears around it are baseless and maybe its all only to create its hype.
